Troy Deeney has got it all wrong about Johan Manzambi at Aston Villa.

The B6 faithful are extremely excited to see the Switzerland international in claret and blue.

He has come in from Freiburg, but is yet to make his debut in pre-season with the Villans.

That hasn't dulled the expectation surrounding his summer move ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

The Super Cup comes first for Unai Emery and Co. as Paris Saint-Germain await in Salzburg on Wednesday evening.

Manzambi won't feature against the Champions League winners, but not for the reason Deeney has put forward.

Troy Deeney gives incorrect reason for Johan Manzambi injury

The 20-year-old is seen as one of the best signings any Premier League side has made this summer.

That is solely due to the quality and potential he can bring to Villa Park moving forward.

The only frustration is that he is currently out injured, and has been since early July.

Manzambi suffered a knee injury with Switzerland during the World Cup and missed their knockout clashes against Colombia and Argentina.

Despite this, Deeney has suggested that the attacking midfielder isn't ready to play for Villa due to a lack of physicality that has seen him struggle in Emery's pre-season.

Speaking via CBS Sports on Tuesday, the ex-Birmingham City man said: "He's having to get used to the physicality. I'm sure Manzambi has never had a pre-season like Emery is putting him through and it has shown as he has already got injured."

That simply hasn't happened as the Swiss star is yet to even feature in a training session under the Spaniard.

He has been recovering from injury with an expert in Spain, so this is truly ill-informed.

I've seen Johan Manzambi in the flesh and this is why he'd be perfect for Aston Villa

What can Manzambi do for Aston Villa?

Regardless of what Deeney has said, it is frustrating to be without the new signing right now.

That is truly because of the excitement of how good he could become in B6.

Manzambi has proven his quality in the past year having put up seven goals and six assists with Freiburg.

He added to that by creating 20 chances, completing 33 dribbles while also winning 179 duels and 35 tackles.

That is all made even better by the fact he was the most fouled player in the entire Bundesliga after being brought down 78 at an average of 3.4 per appearance.

He clearly has endurance and that should serve him well moving into the Premier League, even if Deeney can't see it.
