Aston Villa are starting to find some much-needed momentum in recent weeks.

The Villans absolutely battered Fenerbahce 6-0 in the Champions League, with Nicolas Jackson and Ross Barkley each scoring twice.

Johan Manzambi and Tammy Abraham were also on target against the Turkish giants in an absolute rout.

Villa backed that up with a welcome Premier League victory, with Manzambi on target again in a 1-0 triumph at Newcastle United.

It is now five games unbeaten across all competitions for Unai Emery's side, who are starting to find their stride after an indifferent start to the campaign.

Here, Villa News looks at three questions to have emerged from the past week at Villa Park.

Can Brian Madjo push Nicolas Jackson for a starting berth?

Brian Madjo had the Villa fans excited with an outstanding goalscoring performance against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup.

But an untimely injury means he has yet to appear in a competitive fixture since.

He did play in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Sevilla over the international break, and was an unused substitute against Newcastle United.

Jackson has been impressing for Villa, though, scoring five goals in nine games across all competitions.

Competition can only be a good thing for Emery, who might be tempted to find a way to get both men into his line-up.

Has Unai Emery found a better tactical blend?

One concern prior to the two victories this week was the amount of errors and defensive lapses Villa were making.

But it was two wins, and just as importantly, two clean sheets, with Emery finding a nice tactical balance.

Emery got his mid and low blocks spot on against Fenerbahce, and it gave his attacking players more fluidity and aggression going forward.

Bringing in Barkley to play alongside Boubakar Kamara also offered more structure and control in possession.

And Villa backed it up against Newcastle, who were barely able to get a shot at goal on their own patch.

Is Johan Manzambi Villa's most important player?

Manzambi has had to be patient after arriving at Villa Park injured in the summer.

But the Switzerland international, who turned 21 last week, is already looking like he could be Villa's most important player.

It's one thing scoring in a rout against Fenerbahce, but contributing the winner in a 1-0 win like he did against Newcastle was hugely important.

Manzambi also netted in the victory over Tottenham Hotspur before the international break.

He is already looking like he could become a star at Villa Park.
