This Aston Villa player will benefit most from Harvey Elliott and Jadon Sancho transfer

Aston Villa have been incredibly underwhelming so far in this new Premier League campaign.

Three games, one point and zero goals.

Unai Emery will be hoping the deadline day signings of Jadon Sancho and Harvey Elliott can help turn the Villans' fortunes around moving forward.

Matt Law recently revealed that one Villa player in particular will be in line to benefit from the arrival of the two new creative players.

Morgan Rogers to be back to his best after Villa's deadline day business

Like the rest of the Villa team, Rogers has started the season slowly.

Rogers was linked with a move to Tottenham earlier in the summer, and perhaps this speculation is one of the reasons why the 23-year-old has not looked to be the same player so far.

• Last season, Rogers averaged 1.5 shots per game, but this has fallen to just one so far
• The forward has accumulated an xG of 0.15 and an xA of 0.2 in his 270 minutes of gametime

As well as this, Law claims that Jacob Ramsey's move to Newcastle could also be to blame for Rogers' poor form on the All Villa No Filler podcast on 8 September.

"His big mate Jacob Ramsey’s just left the club and it feels like he just needs to refocus a little bit, so having Elliott and Sancho around there, two young, English lads he knows from the England set up, especially Harvey, I think, that should help him.”

With Rogers currently away on international duty with England, Law also revealed the things he's been hearing from Rogers regarding his new Villa teammates.

"I cover England, and there’s been some positive noises out of the England camp about playing with Elliott and Sancho," Law said.

"You can see that those young English lads form a nice group and bounce off each other quite nicely, I think that’s important too, because Rogers has played like a drain in the first three games for Villa."

Morgan Rogers' approval of the signings is good news for Aston Villa supporters

If Villa want to keep Rogers at the club long term, they must continue to show the youngster their ambition in the transfer window when it comes to bringing new faces to Villa Park.

With the former Middlesbrough man facing an uncertain future earlier in the summer, signing players he is happy to play alongside will likely increase how long he will stay in B6.

Emery brought European football back for Villa, and if NSWE want the Spaniard to keep the Villans in European competitions, they must back him appropriately in the market.

If they do not, they risk key members of the squad and even Emery himself walking out on the Villa project that seemingly does not look as lucrative as it used to be, despite the arrivals of Sancho and Elliott papering over some of the cracks.
