Unai Emery is keen to add to Aston Villa’s attack this summer transfer window. 

After the departures of Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio, the Spaniard is short on options up top at Villa Park. 

 As a result, Villa have been linked with a move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin. 

The 28-year-old is currently a free agent after Everton failed to agree a new deal with the striker. 

However, despite potentially arriving at Villa on a free, the striker could still cost the Birmingham outfit thousands in wages.

Calvert-Lewin could earn huge wage at Aston Villa amid talks 

Reports emerged on Sunday that Villa had approached Calvert-Lewin to ask about the striker’s salary demands. 

While Newcastle and AC Milan are also chasing the attacker, Emery is firmly in the race to win his signature. 

However, Calvert-Lewin would likely be on a hefty wage if he were to move to Villa Park this summer.

Calvert-Lewin has been a solid Premier League striker

According to Capology (27 July), the 28-year-old was on £100,000-a-week for six seasons at Everton.

Now, after departing the Toffees, the striker will likely be seeking a pay rise. 

Many of Aston Villa’s biggest stars are on £120,000-a-week plus, according to Capology, including fellow striker Ollie Watkins, who is on £130,000-a-week. 

Therefore, Calvert-Lewin may demand around £120,000, which would set Villa back £6.24 million every year. 

On top of this, the 28-year-old would likely earn even more via clauses or bonuses in his contract.

Boubacar Kamara is Aston Villa’s highest earner

While £120,000-a-week may seem a lot, it is still not close to being Aston Villa’s highest earner. 

Three Aston Villa players are currently on £150,000-a-week, which is the most at Villa Park. 

Emi Martinez, Youri Tielemans and Boubacar Kamara, who has just signed a new contract at Villa, take home this extortionate wage package to be the Birmingham outfit’s highest earners. 

Donyell Malen and Amadou Onana then follow at £140,000-a-week.
