Aston Villa were at their very best against West Ham on Sunday (22 October), producing an unstoppable display at Villa Park.

The hosts ran out 4-1 winners against the Hammers, with Douglas Luiz (two), Ollie Watkins and Leon Bailey scoring their goals.

Star winger Jarrod Bowen continued his fine form with a goal for the visitors, but all in all it was a very comfortable win for Unai Emery’s men.

Villa’s attack have unsurprisingly taken plenty of the credit following the ruthless display, but defender Ezri Konsa also produced a superb display at the other end of the pitch.

As per Sofascore, the centre-back finished his 90 minutes on the pitch with a 97% passing accuracy, as well as winning six of his six ground duels (100%).

Moreover, the defender completed both of his dribble attempts, made one clearance, one interception and one tackle, and even won a penalty for his side, which Luiz scored.

The performance has now unsurprisingly earned him a place in Alan Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week, with Konsa joining teammates Luiz and Watkins there, along with his manager Emery.

Villa now sit in fifth place in the Premier League table after the impressive victory, just a point off Liverpool in fourth, and just four points off league leaders Tottenham.

It is extremely tight among the clubs chasing a Champions League spot for next season, and Villa will most certainly be in contention for one of those places should they continue to produce performances like the one against the Hammers.
