Brighton vs Aston Villa in Premier League predicted by supercomputer
Aston Villa will have a new look to them when they make the trip to Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday.
It has been another disruptive summer at Villa Park on the back of the Villans' famous Europa League triumph.
Rather than using that as a platform to push on, Unai Emery has seen Youri Tielemans, Morgan Rogers and Lucas Digne depart among others.
Ollie Watkins could also be about to follow should he get his wish of a move to Saudi Arabia, with Nicolas Jackson touted as a replacement for Villa.
But it is not all bad news, as World Cup star Johan Manzambi has arrived at Villa Park, as have Joao Gomes Matteo Ruggeri and Zion Suzuki.
Supporters may also get a first glimpse of Alejandro Garnacho and Aaron Wan-Bissaka in competitive action after their arrivals on initial loan deals.
What is predicted to happen in Brighton vs Villa?
Brighton have themselves seen players come and go this summer, but it has been nowhere near as disruptive as we have seen at Villa Park.
The Seagulls are also competing in Europe this term - for now, at least, as they are locked at 0-0 against Tromso after the first leg of their UEFA Conference League qualifying playoff tie.
Villa finished 12 points better off than Brighton in last season's Premier League.
However, Opta Analyst's supercomputer has Brighton down as the favourites to win this opening-weekend clash.
The Seagulls are given a 44 per cent chance of coming away with all three points, compared to 31.5 per cent for Villa.
The draw has a 24.5 per cent likelihood of happening.
Based on recent history at the Amex Stadium, though, the supercomputer could be wide of the mark.
Unai Emery will have familiar feeling pre-Brighton
Villa are accustomed to being written off ahead of matches, yet that only provided added motivation last season.
The Villans have lost just one of their last five away games at Brighton, with that run including a famous 4-3 win on the South Coast last December.
Emery's men were 3-0 winners in this fixture the season before, meanwhile, so they have the Seagulls' number.
There have been three or more goals scored in each of Brighton's last last four home games, so goals can again be expected this time around.
Overall, Villa are unbeaten against Brighton in their past four Premier League matches.
A draw would be a positive result all things considered, but there is no reason why Villa's new-look side cannot come away with all three points.
