Axel Disasi faces an uncertain future at Chelsea, which could signal an instant return to Aston Villa.

The defender spent the second half of last season on loan at Villa Park to aid Unai Emery's defensive crisis.

Disasi made 13 Premier League appearances for the Villans, as well as three run-outs in the Champions League.

The versatile defender has returned to Stamford Bridge, but his future is immediately in doubt.

Disasi faces Chelsea exclusion ahead of new season

Emery is keen to bring Disasi back to Villa Park as they look to battle on all fronts next season.

Chelsea signed Disasi from Monaco for £40million, but Villa could sign the Frenchman for as little as £25million.

Given the West Midlands outfit's financial frailties, such a deal will be appealing as they must be savvy in the transfer market.

Now, their hopes of signing the 27-year-old have been handed a fresh boost after news emerging from Stamford Bridge.

Disasi will not be a part of their Club World Cup squad as Chelsea head to the United States.

This means that the defender will essentially become available for transfer immediately, paving the way for the Villans to make a move, once the window re-opens on Monday (16 June).

The Frenchman has made 61 appearances in West London, but as Chelsea strive to make progress, he is no longer required.

Disasi would be potential banana skin for Aston Villa

While Disasi has played for some of the most esteemed clubs in Europe, there are question marks about his ability.

His time at Stamford Bridge was littered with errors, which is why he has been allowed to leave the London club.

Of course, every player deserves a fresh opportunity, but Villa cannot afford any slip-ups next season.

Emery certainly needs defensive reinforcements, with fitness concerns over Tyrone Mings and the departure of Diego Carlos.

Furthermore, the West Midlands side looks set to lose Alex Moreno, who is wanted by Leeds United.

Now that Disasi is available, Villa must weigh up whether he will add much-needed steel to their backline.
