Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott is expected to be on the move this summer and Aston Villa must be in the race for his signature.

The 22-year-old was reduced to a bit-part role in Liverpool's Premier League title success last season due to a combination of injuries and selection decisions.

Elliott played just 360 minutes in the league and recently admitted that he is not sure whether his future lies at Anfield.

The Villa Park outfit are one of several parties that hold an interest in the former Fulham youth star with a bid of £40million believed to be enough to sign him.

Aston Villa must sign Elliott after latest exploits with England U21s

Elliott took his tally to four goals at the Under-21 European Championships and may have piqued Unai Emery's interest as England went through to the final with a 2-1 win over the Netherlands.

The Reds star blasted home the opener for the Three Lions before driving through the Dutch defence and smashing in the winning goal.

Noah Ohio had equalised after a mix-up in the defence, but Elliott's sheer will to win was the difference maker for Lee Carsley's side.

Elliott would be a brilliant addition for Villa

Elliott is one of the most promising talents in the English game and given the fact that Arne Slot's side are willing to let him leave, the B6 outfit needs to take advantage before a rival does.

It would be a major coup for Monchi and Emery if they could secure a move for the L4 star that would make sense given their Profit and Sustainability concerns, because £40m for a player of his quality is a bargain in this market.

Villa look set to lose Marco Asensio, with his loan seemingly not being made into a permanent transfer, and Elliott could be the perfect replacement after his latest display.

Ian Darke exclusively told Villa News that the move would be "terrific" for both parties and it is hard to disagree, the player could revive his career and Villa get a sensational talent that could turn into one of the best players in the country.
