Aston Villa: Scotland media in total agreement on John McGinn
Scotland had Aston Villa skipper John McGinn to thank for their World Cup win over Haiti.
The Tartan Army kicked off their first appearance at the showpiece tournament for 28 years with a bang overnight.
A 2am GMT kick-off didn't put fans off watching north of the border as their side took flight in Boston.
The Villa star netted in the first half as his deflected effort found its way to the back of the net.
McGinn stole the show as the Scottish media were left blown away by his typically energetic performance in the US.
John McGinn stuns Scottish media with performance vs Haiti
The 31-year-old is going through a dream period of his career for both club and country.
After lifting the Europa League in Istanbul, he has linked up with Steve Clarke to prove himself on the world stage.
That wasn't lost on anyone in Boston as the Scottish media piled praise on his showing once again.
The Daily Record wrote: "The hero again and who cares if his goal was a sclaff?
"Should probably have had a second after the break to ease the nerves but by then he was out of steam after running himself into the ground."
That was only echoed by the Independent, who described him as "Mr Dependable".
They added: "Scored the opening goal with a slice of fortune, but was as industrious as ever. Won free-kicks, caused problems with his runs and offered an outlet on the wing."
The Herald added to the good vibes by mooting McGinn as "a man for the big moments for Scotland" before taking a tongue in cheek swipe, saying: "Who are you calling a pub player, Roy Keane?"
This all just proves how good the Villa favourite was in yet another star moment in his career.
Aston Villa star McGinn continues to write his own script
It is crazy to think that the Villans signed a midfielder from Hibernian for around £2million and he would go on to make history wherever he goes.
He first scored in claret and blue with a pearler against Sheffield Wednesday and hasn't looked back once.
McGinn has now found the net in the Premier League, Europa League, Champions League and the World Cup.
His goal against Haiti just adds yet another amazing chapter to his stunning story as he continues to write his own script.
Keane may think he is a "pub player" on his so-called "bad days", but they clearly don't come around very often as new achievements continue to roll in.
