Aston Villa will be hoping to see more going forward from Ezri Konsa next season.

The England international has long been a regular at the heart of defence in claret and blue.

He is considered as the best defender in B6, and for good reason.

The 28-year-old has gone from strength-to-strength under Unai Emery and looks set to continue into the new campaign.

Coming off the back of a positive World Cup campaign will also act as a boost to his confidence.

There will be hope that Konsa can show his talents in attacking areas, three years after he did exactly that.

The number four certainly hasn't been a regular source of goals since moving to the Midlands in 2019.

He only has 12 goals in all competitions across those seven years, but easily his best came in pre-season.

Cast your minds back three years to 2023 ahead of Villa's first Champions League qualification campaign.

The Villans lined up against Brentford in the Premier League Summer Series in Landover, Maryland.

The two played out a 3-3 draw, but Konsa brought up the moment of the game.

He picked up a lose ball just yards ahead of his penalty area before driving forward into midfield.

Konsa shrugged off Frank Onyeka and Kevin Schade before advancing into Brentford's box.

The defender then curled a superb effort into the top corner and couldn't quite believe it as he wheeled off to celebrate.

Villa remembered the moment in the above social media post, begging the question why we don't see that more from the Englishman.

How Konsa can step up Aston Villa attacking numbers

That pre-season moment just proves what the centre-back has in his locker.

It may have been three years ago, but he could still utilise his own talent to repeat that moment in the upcoming campaign.

He only completed eight dribbles throughout the whole of last season and took just three shots that weren't headers.

To add to that, his five chances created only resulted in one big chance, which could take a step up.

Konsa could show much more confidence in his own ability to make things happen further up the pitch.

If he could do that, it may prove to be a perfect avenue for himself and Villa to score more goals moving forward.
