Aston Villa are facing a number of injury problems in defence at the moment and former full-back Alan Hutton wants action in January.
Matty Cash, Lucas Digne and Diego Carlos have all picked up long-term injuries that rule them out at least for the next Premier League game while the latter could well miss the rest of the season.
As a result, the rumours are circling about a potential January move from Steven Gerrard to once again reassure his defensive options with a potential loan move.
One name that has cropped up is Chelsea teenager Trevoh Chalobah, as per Simon Phillips, who has found regular game time difficult to come by at Stamford Bridge with the arrivals of Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana.
Hutton thinks that Villa Park might be an ideal place for him to get a run of games with the Villans' project likely to be something he can be encouraged by.
"I think he's a good defender and he's obviously very young it's difficult for him to play week in, week out with Chelsea so if an opportunity was to arise for him to go to somewhere like Villa, that might tick a lot of boxes for him," Hutton told Villa News.
"It's just a shame that at this moment in time there is talk surrounding the goalkeeper Martinez, Digne is injured, Cash is injured, Carlos is out for the season so the area Steven Gerrard tried really hard to work at, he's got three or four injuries.
"Maybe in January if things keep going the way they are going, then they might look to bring someone like Chalobah in."
Aston Villa head to Leeds United on Sunday without Cash and Digne at full-back and defensive midfielder Boubacar Kamara who is now out until after the World Cup.
