Aston Villa made a wise move by letting Diego Carlos leave during the winter window.

The Brazilian made a switch to Fenerbache in January after months of being linked with a move away from Villa Park.

This did come as a surprise somewhat given the lack of squad depth in the centre-back positions at Villa Park right now.

Ezri Konsa was the only fit senior centre back at the B6 club when the 31-year-old departed as both Pau Torres and Tyrone Mings were absent through injury.

Now it appears Unai Emery made a wise decision to let the defender go to Turkiye after what has happened.

Unai Emery dodges Diego Carlos injury bullet at Aston Villa

The ex-Sevilla man completed a move to the Super Lig and has already made three appearances for the Yellow Canaries in little over two weeks.

His most recent showing came against Erzurumspor where he featured off the bench for just six minutes before being taken off with an injury.

It has been reported that Carlos could miss at least a month of action for the Turkish outfit as a result of this issue [Yagiz Sabuncuoglu].

With the problems that Emery has already had to deal with at centre-back in recent weeks, this appears to be a bullet dodged by the Spaniard.

Instead, Axel Disasi has come in on loan from Chelsea and appears to be fit and ready to feature for the Villans which is just what is needed in B6 right now.

The France international will represent useful cover for Torres and Mings until they eventually return and will represent a positive member of the squad.
