Tyrone Mings is not yet ready to start the Aston Villa v Fulham clash on 19 October as he's lacking match sharpness post his ACL injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that based on Unai Emery's comments, he has made good progress with the under-21s as he's got minutes under his belt.

However, the game at Craven Cottage on Saturday is likely to have come too soon for him to start.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientisttold Villa News: "Based on Emery’s comments, it sounds like his Under-21s stint went well so if he continues on that trajectory, bounce matches post international break could be on the horizon.

"He’s obviously lacking match fitness and would need a fitness test to be cleared this weekend.

"Expect him to be ready to start games and then play 90 minutes after a few bounce matches."

Aston Villa must take it easy with Tyrone Mings

The 31-year-old sustained a devastating blow on the opening day of last season and has since undergone a gruelling rehab.

It makes sense for Villa to take every precaution possible to ensure that he does not face any setbacks as he aims to make his first-team return.

Hopefully, he manages to remain injury free and could contribute a great deal in the Champions League campaign as well.
