Aston Villa must not be too concerned with Youri Tielemans' injury at Leicester City which saw him miss games last season, claims Dr Rajpal Brar.

The Villains secured the signing of the Belgium international on a free transfer after his deal at the King Power Stadium ran out at the end of the campaign.

The Mirror reported in July 2022 that both Manchester United and Arsenal, two Champions League clubs wanted to sign the 26-year-old.

Speaking about his extended absence, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News, "They’ll have had a medical to take a look and assess his functionality in that regard.

"The fact that he was able to come back later in the season was a good sign, even though he didn’t look as sharp which is expected as you lose match fitness and rhythm quite quickly when not playing."

Tielemans picked up an ankle ligament injury in the 1-0 defeat against Arsenal in March and missed a significant part of the Foxes' fight towards relegation.

In the end, they failed to stay in the Premier League and Tielemans made the decision not to pen a new deal at the club.

Unai Emery was quick to act on his decision and convinced the 26-year-old to secure a move to Villa Park.

Tielemans will not be the only signing for the club but it has been viewed as a significant coup by the Birmingham outfit.
