Emi Buendia sets record straight at Aston Villa amid Pau Torres injury scare
Emi Buendia has spoken out after rumours broke out surrounding Pau Torres at Aston Villa.
The Argentine has always been a fan favourite in B6 and only enhanced that reputation last season.
He had the campaign of his life and scored so many massive goals in claret and blue.
Whether that be his last minute winner against Arsenal or Europa League final worldie, he did it all.
There will be hope that he can carry that form forward, but it's safe to say he'll remain well-liked by supporters.
Buendia has only enhanced that reputation as he sent a staunch message about Torres' rumoured injury.
Pau Torres ACL injury latest revealed by Emi Buendia
The Villans have now seen out two pre-season friendlies against Walsall and Porto.
A win and a loss has kicked off the summer, but fans aren't reading into the results too much.
What they are assessing is the players who are available to Unai Emery at this stage.
Torres is someone who is yet to feature and has only been seen once in Bodymoor Heath images.
That sparked a rumour on social media that the centre-back had suffered an ACL injury and that explains his absence.
It's safe to say that these suggestions are wide of the mark as Buendia hit out at the discussion.
Taking to Instagram, the Argentine replied to a post reporting the rumours saying, "Please be serious and have the right information before saying something like that."
The post has since been deleted, but it's safe to say the attacker was right to set the record straight.
Why Torres is so important to Aston Villa
The 29-year-old would prove to be a massive miss if he were to be out for a prolonged period.
He has had a number of problems since joining the Villans, having missed 27 games since his 2023 move.
Villa won't want him to suffer anymore, especially after a positive campaign last time out.
It is his quality on the ball that makes such a difference as he completed 55.85 passes with an 89 per cent accuracy per 90 in the Premier League.
That average extends to 2.85 long balls completed, while also winning a total of 59 duels and 22 tackles throughout the season.
Torres helped contribute to four clean sheets as his partnership alongside Ezri Konsa remained a key element of the B6 outfit.
That is exactly why Buendia was right to speak out and stop the meltdown on social media.
