Aston Villa defender faces a re-injury risk after a muscular setback ahead of the Arsenal clash, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

Unai Emery returns to the Emirates on Sunday, 14 April, and will be hoping to get something off the Gunners as Villa aim to finish in the Champions League spots.

However, Cash, who a decision will be made on closer to kick-off, may not be risked if he's not at a 100 per cent.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:

"He has only recently returned to training following what I believe was a muscular issue.

"He will very likely have participated in partial team training before moving to full training.

"As Emery says, a decision will be taken close to the game and it’s also down to how he’s feeling.

"It does not make sense to rush someone back when they’re close to a 100 per cent as that increases re-injury risk."

Aston Villa must be careful with Cash

The 26-year-old has been missing in action since 17 March and it'll be a month if he's not in the squad to face Arsenal.

He has made 26 Premier League appearances this season and has improved under Emery's tutelage.

He's even found the back of the net on a couple of occasions and has been a solid attacking threat for Villa.
