Aston Villa have received results from a scan after John McGinn picked up an injury against BG Pathum United.

The skipper was forced off in the pre-season friendly as the Villans secured a 3-1 win.

Goals from Emi Buendia, Victor Lindelof and Boubacar Kamara helped seal another pre-season win.

Unfortunately, all the B6 faithful could focus on was the injury to their captain.

He was forced off after landing awkwardly on his knee before being forced off by Unai Emery.

The Scot has long been one of the most important players in claret and blue.

He has gone through so many iterations of the Villa squad and is now set to play a key role in this new look side.

McGinn finished last season as their third top Premier League goal outlet with nine goals and assists throughout the year behind only Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers.

He also created the second most big chances with seven, sitting only behind Rogers with 13.

With the England international now gone, the captain will now become one of the key creative outlets in B6.

That all comes off the back of scoring one at the World Cup while also putting up six successful crosses, three chances created and 15 duel wins.

McGinn needs to have yet another superb campaign and he can't do that without being on the pitch.
