Bryan King has suggested Aston Villa target Raphinha is worth around £25million amid a recent transfer update.

The ex-Villa scout claims Barcelona will be looking to charge a premium for their players as a result of their financial struggles.

As reported by Mundo Deportivo (23 July), Villa have no interest in paying anywhere between the £50-59million which Barcelona are demanding for Raphinha.

And King - speaking exclusively to Villa News - has suggested how much he feels the Brazillian is worth.

"We all know Barcelona have plenty of financial problems," King said.

"Therefore, the asking price for any of their players is going to be huge. However, I don't think Raphinha warrants a huge transfer fee, to be honest. I would say he is worth around £25million.

"But Barcelona need money. Therefore, if they're going to sell players then they're going to try and get the biggest price for those players to try and clear their debts."

Aston Villa to try and sign Barcelona forward Raphinha?

Unai Emery's side would be better suited to avoid this transfer.

Raphinha is a talented player who could certainly add some quality to the Villa squad, especially ahead of their UEFA Champions League exploits next season.

However, it seems unnecessary for Villa to take such a big-money gamble on the player.

There are other areas of the pitch where they could look to spend that kind of money, and after the big-money signings of Amadou Onana and Ian Maatsen, the club won't want to overspend.

In addition, João Félix remains a "dream" target for the club (Fabrizio Romano via Daily Briefing, 26 July) and they might therefore be better off focussing on the pursuit of the Portugal international.
