How much Aston Villa will generate from record-breaking Betano sponsorship deal
Betano are going to find a new home on Aston Villa shirt sleeves for the next few years.
The online sports betting company first became involved in a sponsorship agreement with Aston Villa for the start of the 2024-25 season.
A two-year deal was agreed that saw their logo take centre stage as Villa's front-of-shirt sponsor.
However, the Premier League have now moved to ban gambling sponsors from the front of shirts for the 2026-27 season onwards.
This has forced clubs like Villa to find new front-of-shirt partners, but this ban doesn't prohibit betting companies from sponsoring other parts of a team's shirt.
As a result, Betano will now move their branding to the sleeves of Villa shirts, but just because their logo is now slightly less visible doesn't mean the finances involved have decreased either.
How much Aston Villa will earn per year from Betano deal
Aston Villa may now have established themselves as a top Premier League club, but that doesn't mean they've been bathing in endless financial riches over recent years.
They've endured some well-documented financial struggles, both with PSR (Profit and Sustainability Rules) domestically as well as with UEFA in European competition.
Because of this, any lucrative revenue stream they can find is one worth exploring, and they've definitely found one with Betano.
That's because as revealed by football finance expert Lukasz Baczek via X on Wednesday, he claims that Betano's three-year sleeve sponsorship deal with Aston Villa will generate around £6million per year.
Baczek states that this will be a record-breaking sponsorship agreement, and it will bring in just shy of £20m over the next three years.
Widely-respected Midlands football reporter for the Daily Mail Tom Collomosse quoted the post, and reaffirmed Baczek's credibility when it comes to his reporting on Villa sponsorship news previously.
"Lukasz has been spot on about Villa sponsorship so this looks like good news," he said.
Betano's new place on the sleeve will replace the previous occupiers Trade Nation, but how much was that agreement worth compared to this new one?
How much more Aston Villa will make with Betano than Trade Nation
Trade Nation became an official Aston Villa sponsor in the summer of 2023.
It was agreed that they'd become Villa's new official sleeve and trading partner, and their deal was extended in May 2024 to run through to the end of the 2025-26 season.
Now that this contract has expired, they will now make way for Betano to take their spot, and the Villains are going to do well out of this agreement.
In a Daily Mail article from August 2023, it was claimed that Villa's agreement with Trade Nation was worth £2m per year, £4m less than their new deal with Betano.
There will of course be opposition by a lot of fans regarding their team having any kind of betting sponsorship on their team's shirts, as a lot of supporters don't like it for many different and understandable reasons.
However, from Villa's financial standpoint, they will obviously be delighted to get a considerably better sponsorship deal done, and one that reflects their ascension as a football club since that previous Trade Nation agreement was made.
