Aston Villa to make Conor Gallagher enquiry as £40m Jhon Duran to Chelsea update emerges

Bryan King claims Aston Villa could be working on a deal behind the scenes for Conor Gallagher as part of talks with Chelsea over Jhon Duran.

The ex-Villa scout believes selling Duran to Premier League rivals Chelsea could benefit all parties involved.

As reported by The Guardian (14 June), Villa value the striker at £40million amid interest from Chelsea, which has been mooted since the turn of the year.

The Blues have been given permission to discuss personal terms with Duran, although they are reportedly yet to decide on the move.

And King - speaking exclusively to Villa News - feels a deal for Gallagher could be brought up during negotiations.

“This would be a good bit of business for Villa,” King said. "It might also indicate that a deal is in the works for Gallagher.

“If Duran wants to go and Unai Emery wants him to go, then it could be a good deal for everybody involved."

If Villa were to sell Duran to Chelsea and sign Gallagher, it would most likely be viewed as a fantastic bit of business among supporters.

While Duran is still young and has plenty of potential, he hardly featured under Emery last season.

Selling him and bringing an experienced Premier League player such as Gallagher in could be a smart move.

Villa will be competing in the UEFA Champions League next season and will therefore need some more established depth within their ranks.

Losing Duran would be a shame, but including Gallagher as part of any deal would certainly help soften the blow.
