Aston Villa could go down Man United route as 'big money' documentary mooted

Aston Villa could be on the lookout for a documentary series of their own, says a former employee.

The Villans have had their fair share of struggles financially over the years.

Fans have constantly had gripes with PSR and SCR that seems to limit their ability to make progress.

Unai Emery has still managed to work wonders with limited means, but he would undoubtedly love the chance to spend more in the market.

The only true way to that is by improving revenue and that has sparked changes in hospitality, ticket prices and through the club shop.

A documentary could prove to be a perfect new revenue stream for the Villans as Wes Edens could look to make a deal happen.

Aston Villa could be in market for documentary series

There has been plenty of insight information at Villa Park recently due to the Europa League victory.

The media day at Bodymoor Heath allowed various stars to speak out, while Ezri Konsa also shared a written letter to Villa fans ahead of the final.

That is the sort of insight that fans love and it's something that would only be boosted by documentary cameras following the team around.

It would also be a perfect revenue stream for the claret and blue outfit, who need all the income they can get.

Ex-Villa scout Bryan King believes his former side will be on the lookout for a documentary deal, largely due to Eden's ties to America.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, King said: "There have been a few Amazon documentaries from Arsenal, Tottenham and Man City already and it's been big money for them.

"Aston Villa are high profile enough to deserve one, especially with part American owners. They must be looking for a deal with Prime because it is good income and it's a good thing for the fans.

"As long as it's well controlled, it's a good insight. Look at Wrexham - they've been earning big money from that documentary since the owners came in.

"There's been five or six series so far and it's worth massive money. If someone like Wrexham can generate that, there's no reason why Villa won't be able to."

Man United to leave Aston Villa in the dust as £10m+ documentary announcement drops

Manchester United set precedent with Amazon Prime documentary deal

Amazon Prime Video has been known for making documentaries surrounding Premier League sides.

They have previously worked with Manchester City, Tottenham and Arsenal, and are now preparing to film Manchester United in the upcoming campaign.

The Red Devils have announced the deal and the Manchester Evening News has reported that they will be paid a record fee for a documentary covering a professional football club.

The Old Trafford club have previously rejected £10million to have cameras in their camp, so the figure is likely to exceed that.

Villa will surely look at that and ponder whether it would be worth making a deal happen to add a new revenue stream to their books.
