Aston Villa could take advantage of Alejandro Garnacho's struggles at Manchester United in what would be a marquee summer signing.

Argentine winger Garnacho has had a high-profile bust-up with Ruben Amorim and looks to be surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

Former Brentford and Leicester City manager Martin Allen told Villa News that he believes the B6 outfit will have opened talks with United over a potential deal.

Aston Villa to tempt Man United with Garnacho bid

Emery has already had success with one United star, Marcus Rashford, who revived his career with a loan to the Villans.

However, Iconic commentator and Premier League expert Ian Darke believes that Garnacho would struggle to get into the team at Villa Park amid a £40million exit claim.

Asked whether Emery could repeat same trick with the Red Devils star as he did with Rashford, speaking exclusively to Villa News, he said: "If he did a trick with Rashford, alright, Rashford came to life for a few weeks and then got injured towards the end of the season.

"You would not say it was a massive unqualified success.

"With Garnacho, there is no question that Amorim would drive him to the airport or the motorway - they don't want him.

"I think they think he does not make enough good decisions with the ball for all his talent and there is a bit of an attitude issue with him as well.

"Is he going to leave Manchester United? Yeah, he probably is, and if Emery and Monchi like him, you could see the move happening. But he does not walk into that Aston Villa team on the left-hand side.

"They have got Jacob Ramsey, who can play there, Rogers, he plays out there on that side, sometimes they use McGinn a little bit wider, so, it is not an easy team to walk into.

"If Villa fancy him and I think Manchester United would snap their hands off, if they came in and offered £40million for him."

Garnacho signing would be a risk for Villa

The Villans are already facing a tough window, with Profit and Sustainability Regulations (PSR) dictating the level of business that Monchi and Emery can do.

If they are to qualify for the Champions League again, they need to sign top-quality players for value for money.

A deal for Garnacho would be the opposite of that, he is not an elite player and he is not worth £40m at the moment, so it would be a huge risk if they were to sanction a deal.
