Aston Villa could be prepared to welcome back Marcus Rashford in the summer.

The England international moved to Villa Park well over a year ago, as a loan move was agreed with Manchester United in January 2025.

He went on to be a hit with the Villans and struck an excellent relationship with supporters almost immediately.

That made it all the more frustrating when Unai Emery’s side missed out on Champions League qualification and failed to sign the forward permanently as a result.

Rashford could still return to Villa in the coming weeks and months as his Old Trafford future looks to be sealed.

The 28-year-old has quietly had an excellent season at Barcelona since moving to the Spanish giants on loan.

He has been a constant source of goals and assists and is set to get his hands on a LaLiga title for his work in Catalunya.

Despite that, a permanent move to Camp Nou appears increasingly unlikely given the Blaugrana’s financial struggles.

That will see the forward return to Old Trafford in the summer, where many expected him to get another chance with the Red Devils under Michael Carrick.

A report from talkSPORT has now revealed that Manchester United are planning to sell the Englishman this summer.

That gives Aston Villa the perfect chance to bring Rashford back with Champions League qualification now on the horizon.

There is so much to say positively about the versatile attacker and his previous temporary spell in the Midlands.

He brought an air of quality and lived up to the expectations placed upon him in B6.

If not for an injury that ended his season early, things could have been so different in terms of a top-five finish.

Bringing that sort of player back is a no-brainer, and it certainly appears that he is going to be available as soon as the summer transfer window opens.

Rashford could be the signing to take the Villans to the next level as they look to refresh their squad ahead of the new campaign.
