Victor Lindelof fails miserably, Tammy Abraham utterly useless – Aston Villa player ratings vs Tottenham
Aston Villa fell to an embarrassing 2-1 defeat to Tottenham at Villa Park this Sunday, and there were some very poor performances.
The Villans were flat from the first minute and were punished early on with Conor Gallagher’s first goal for Spurs coming in the 12th minute, before Richarlison headed in his 10th of the campaign.
Boos rang round Villa Park at the break, and nothing changed in the second 45 despite a late consolation from Emi Buendia, as Tottenham grew in confidence the more the game went on.
Unai Emery made plenty of changes to his side, but there were plenty of outcasts who failed to make their stamp.
Villa look to have wrapped up Champions League qualification regardless of this loss, though, it’s still a stain on the club’s look.

Victor Lindelof has no place in this squad
Victor Lindelof has been questioned at Aston Villa, and it’s clear to see why Manchester United never wanted to keep him.
The Swede was caught ball-watching for Richarlison’s header, allowing the Brazilian to get goalside and thump past Emi Martinez.
| Area of game | Stats |
| Minutes played | 45′ |
| Touches | 40 |
| Ground duels won | 0% |
| FotMob rating | 6.1 |
Lindelof had been benched for four straight games until the match against Tottenham, and his stats in the table above prove exactly why.
After just 45 minutes, he already had a poor 6.1 FotMob rating, after not making a single ground duel attempt, and just one block along with four clearances.
Those clearances kept inviting pressure, and Tottenham took advantage of this with their 62 per cent possession total in the first half, which then set the Villans up to lose.
Tammy Abraham is not the same player he once was
Tammy Abraham was given a big chance against Tottenham, as it was only his second start of the Premier League season since coming back to Villa in January.
However, even though he was given little service, the Englishman didn’t help himself by offering no movement, and looking like a stone statue for the 60 minutes he was on the pitch.
The striker had just 14 touches in an hour of playing time, and recorded a poor 56 per cent passing accuracy while having a zero per cent ground duel success rate.

That means Abraham now has just three goals in 15 appearances since coming back to the Villans, and he looks a different player to the one who once scored 26 in one campaign with Villa.
