Aston Villa star Amadou Onana continues to be linked with an exit ahead of the summer.

The record signing in B6 has become an important cog in the Unai Emery machine this season, alongside the likes of Youri Tielemans and Boubacar Kamara.

Having paid over £50million to land his signature in 2024, it finally feels this season that the Villans have seen the best of the 24-year-old.

That has unsurprisingly resulted in transfer interest away from Villa Park as the claret and blue outfit prepare for an all-important run-in.

Onana has attracted interest from Manchester United, and now we assess what we know about his contract situation at Villa Park.

What is Amadou Onana’s Aston Villa contract situation?

There have been mixed reviews about the Belgium international this season, but he has been largely consistent in the Midlands.

His performances in the middle of the park have been as influential as anyone else at times, and he deserves his flowers for that.

That has helped him prove his worth and show why the Villans spent such a hefty fee to acquire him from Everton nearly two years ago.

As part of that deal, he sealed his future in claret and blue until 2029 on weekly wages in the region of £140,000.

That equates to a figure in the region of £7.2m for the year, which certainly isn’t pocket change for Emery and Co.

As well that may be, Onana has previously discussed a Villa exit, which is something that may not be a million miles away in B6.

Could Onana join Manchester United this summer?

It is no secret that the Villans have faced financial issues over the years.

That all looks likely to carry on into the upcoming transfer window as a big-name sale looks almost necessary for the B6 outfit.

Morgan Rogers has been linked with his own exit, but Onana has also attracted plenty of interest from Manchester United in the past year.

With the Red Devils in the market for a new midfielder to replace Casemiro, it does feel as if the Belgian would fit in at Old Trafford.

The decision will ultimately come down to Emery and whether his hand is going to be forced once the transfer window opens.
