Aston Villa hold talks with Harry Wilson as free transfer decision awaits

Aston Villa have maintained their interest in Fulham star Harry Wilson.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday that the Villans remain keen on the Wales international amid interest from various other clubs.

The transfer specialist has revealed that initial talks have already been held at Villa Park over a potential free transfer switch to the Midlands.

He is out of contract at the end of the season and will be available for nothing once the campaign comes to an end.

Unai Emery and Co. now await a decision from Wilson in the coming months as a summer exit from Craven Cottage looks increasingly likely.

Aston Villa maintain Harry Wilson pursuit

The attacking midfielder has been one of the standout performers in the entire Premier League this campaign.

That has come as a surprise to many with the Welshman’s 17 goals and assists in all competitions, representing an impressive tally.

It is no surprise that plenty of sides are keeping an eye on his signature, but the Villans have held interest since January.

Villa expressed their interest in the attacker in the winter, while Fulham attempted to open talks over a new contract.

Brentford, Crystal Palace and Everton were also said to be keeping tabs on Wilson, but no move was sorted before the end of the January window.

Should Aston Villa sign Wilson?

There is no surprise that finances are likely to be tight again in B6 over the summer.

Roberto Olabe will have to be shrewd with his business, and that could kick start in perfect fashion by utilising the free transfer market.

Wilson may represent an excellent piece of business for that reason, especially off the back of such a superb campaign.

The Villans did the exact same thing with Ross Barkley after his superb spell at Luton Town, and that has proven to be worthwhile.

It will be interesting now to see if Villa can get a deal over the line for Wilson, but to me, it appears to be a no-brainer in B6.
