Aston Villa fans react as average cost of ticket vs Leeds United emerges – ‘Ludicrous’

Aston Villa have left a lot of their fans disappointed by placing the Leeds United game in Category 3, the most expensive Premier League fixture band.

The average cost of a single Villa adult match ticket for the Whites’ trip to B6 on 20 February is £76.

Category 3 is reserved for top Premier League teams and key fixture dates, and while the Lions are playing their first 3pm kick-off at Villa Park in over a year, that surely doesn’t justify the increase in ticket prices.

On the other hand, tickets for Category 4 matches cost significantly less, and supporters aren’t happy with the Villans’ decision ahead, which is arguably pricing them out.

Aston Villa fans enraged at Leeds United ticket prices

Villa may lose their up-and-coming fans, with one supporter on X warning that cutting off access and supply to future generations could potentially be damaging for the club.

Another slammed the pricing as awful, accusing the Villa Park hierarchy of taking advantage of supporters rather than rewarding their loyalty.

Some have been planning to take their children to their first game, but have been put off by the prices.

One supporter slammed Villa for the decision and argued that the negativity from the stands due to the lack of affordability could potentially channel onto the pitch and dampen the atmosphere of the stadium.

A season ticket holder said they wouldn’t be going if they had to pay around £76 to watch a game, calling it “ludicrous”.

The developments have also seen some fans calling for regulation of pricing, but that is likely too much to ask, given the direction the game is going in.

NSWE to use Premier League excuse for ticket prices

There have been suggestions that the current pricing model is necessary if Unai Emery’s want to compete with the biggest clubs in England.

NSWE will also likely use the excuse of the Premier League’s tightening financial restrictions over the years to justify their demands at Villa Park.

There have been concerns over the years that football is becoming unaffordable for the working class, and this is playing out in real time.

While the Lions are under pressure to compete on a seemingly low budget, asking fans to pay higher ticket prices surely isn’t the right way to solve the issue.
