Aston Villa's victory over Young Boys in the Europa League on Thursday was overshadowed by fan trouble at Villa Park.

Aston Villa beat Young Boys 2-1 on 27 November, with Donyell Malen scoring two goals to seal another three points for Unai Emery.

The travelling fans clashed with stewards and police at Villa Park, with punches being thrown and the game even being halted at one stage.

Young Boys set for ultimate punishment from UEFA

Keith Hackett has warned that serious repercussions are now on the cards.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, the ex-PGMOL chief and FIFA-listed official insists that plenty of evidence is available, with supporter bans and complete expulsion on the cards.

"Having viewed the unacceptable behaviour of the Young Boys fans that clearly has escalated with punches thrown at Villa stewards, the UEFA Match delegate will have plenty of evidence to share with executives at UEFA HQ in Nyon, Switzerland," Hackett said.

"UEFA frankly should consider taking the following action. A stadium ban for Young Boys spectators.

"They should also consider throwing Young Boys out of the competition."

How does Europa League look after Aston Villa win?

Young Boys are currently set to be dumped out of the competition anyway.

With the Swiss side sitting in the bottom right, as things stand, they are still level on points with 24th, which would set up a play-off to go through.

Aston Villa are well within the top eight, with Emery looking to win another Europa League trophy and continue his incredible record in the competition.

The Spaniard has probably never witnessed scenes like the Young Boys fans on Thursday during that time, though, and severe punishments need to be handed out.

It's a trip to Switzerland next for Aston Villa to take on Basel, with the hope that a repeat of this trouble is avoided in the crowds on 11 December.
