Aston Villa will look to extend their five-game winning streak against Go Ahead Eagles on Thursday.

Villa triumped in a 2-1 win over Feyenoord in their last UEFA Europa League fixture thanks to goals from Emi Buendia and John McGinn.

After two games unbeaten in Europe and two clean sheets, Unai Emery would have already fancied his chances against Go Ahead Eagles.

However, following Villa's 2-1 victory over Tottenham in the Premier League, his confidence must be through the roof.

Go Ahead Eagles vs Aston Villa kick-off time

Aston Villa will travel to De Adelaarshorst to face Go Ahead Eagles on 23 October at 5:45pm BST.

Emery will likely look to shake his team up while also respecting his opponents with his choices.

Ollie Watkins could return to Villa's starting line-up after coming on as a substitute against Spurs following a knock sustained over the international break.

Meanwhile, Victor Lindelof could be handed his first start for the Villans since Villa signed him from Manchester United on a free transfer over the summer.

  • Lindelof was signed on a two-year contract
  • He has played just 21 minutes in the Premier League and four in the Europa League

Ian Maatsen could also start for Emery in what could turn out to be a real restructuring of Villa's backline. However, they will need to refrain from becoming complacent.

Indeed, the Eredivisie side have won one of their two Europa League games and will be searching for their first home victory in the competition.

There is no doubt that the Dutch team's defence will be difficult to break down on the night.

Villa are favourites to win the Europa League clash, but it could be a tougher game than anticipated.
