Arsenal remain keen on signing Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa, having made a January bid for the striker.

Mikel Arteta's side have needed a goalscoring striker for some time as they look destined to land one this summer.

With that in mind, the odds of Arsenal landing Watkins have dropped significantly, and his most likely destination has been revealed.

Earlier in the campaign, his place in the side was under threat due to the form of the now departed Jhon Duran.

As Unai Emery opted to rotate his strikers, Watkins was made to sit on the bench for longer than he would have liked.

At the end of the January transfer window, Arsenal made an audacious attempt to sign their famous supporter.

Nonetheless, after losing Duran, landing him was always going to be an impossible task for the Gunners.

Arsenal may be tempted to make another move for the England international, and their odds of signing him have now shortened to 2/1, according to bet365.

However, Aston Villa remains his most likely destination, with even odds for Watkins to stay in the West Midlands.

Aston Villa should keep hold of Watkins

Given that Watkins is approaching his 30th birthday, Villa might have a decision to make on Watkins' future.

However, his performances and goalscoring exploits suggest that the striker still can still produce at the highest level.

In a season where Marcus Rashford and Duran have been breathing over his shoulder, Watkins has still produced.

Clearly, he has a hunger to be the main man, and even if Villa recruits a new forward, he will still give it his all.

While Arsenal could test the Villa Park club's resolve this summer, they should keep faith in Watkins.
