Henry Winter shares ‘Stand out’ feature he has spotted of Marco Asensio at Aston Villa
Marco Asensio has impressed during his loan spell with Aston Villa so far, despite making just six appearances.
The winger joined Aston Villa on loan during the winter transfer window after not being in the plans of Luis Enrique at Paris Saint-Germain.
Although he has only played in four Premier League games so far, the 29-year-old has netted two goals and certainly shown his worth for Unai Emery.

Henry Winter highlights Asensio success
Asensio made just 12 Ligue 1 appearances for PSG this term and despite scoring two goals and contributing four assists, he was available for a loan transfer in the winter window.
As Emery looks to take his side forward in the Champions League and the FA Cup, as well as gaining a good finish in the Premier League, the boss was ready to add some players to his squad during the window.
Asensio and Marcus Rashford have both joined the West Midlands outfit on loan and have caught the eye massively since their arrivals.
Not only has Asensio netted in the top flight but he also has two FA Cup goals from two appearances showing he has what it takes to contribute.
| Appearances | Goals | Assists | |
| Paris Saint-Germain | 16 | 2 | 4 |
| Aston Villa | 6 | 4 | 0 |
Henry Winter was keen to heap praise on the 29-year-old as he wrote on his Goal Posts blog (3 March): “Marco Asensio is more than a bringer of goals for Aston Villa, four in his last three games. He’s more than a composed carrier of the ball deep into enemy area.
“It’s the on-loan Spaniard’s attitude that also stands out. He’s deemed surplus to requirements at Paris St-Germain. But it can’t be anything to do with his application or professionalism.
“Standards were already high at Villa under Unai Emery. And Asensio’s commitment levels raise them even higher.”

Aston Villa should be looking ahead to permanent Asensio transfer in the summer
Emery’s transfer window additions have absolutely added to his team in the second half of the season and he will be delighted with that.
There is still work to be done in the West Midlands with the Villans needing to find more consistency in their results and performances for a European finish this term.
However, there has been plenty of positivity and as Emery looks to take this forward to next season too, surely they have to be considering the addition of Asensio on a long-term basis.
During the winter window, it was shared that PSG may have been willing to sanction a permanent exit for the player and therefore, Villa have to take advantage of this.
Next term, they are pushing to have a busy schedule with European football already, and so far Asensio has certainly shown that he is someone who can have a positive impact in achieving those aims.
For now, it is up to the 29-year-old to continue to show his talent to his new boss and prove he can take Villa to the very top again.
