Boubacar Kamara ‘unhappy’ at Aston Villa as Keown blasts footage v Wolves
Martin Keown slammed Boubacar Kamara for his involvement as Aston Villa fell to a 2-0 defeat away to Wolves on Saturday.
Villa came away empty-handed from Molineux (1 February) with the team selection potentially one of the factors behind the defeat.
Kamara, in the absence of Tyrone Mings, was utilised at centre-back and Keown was not at all impressed by his performance in the backline.
Speaking on Match of the Day (1 February), Keown said: “Kamara didn’t look happy in that position for Aston Villa, this ball over the top, he should deal better with. It’s a real makeshift defence for Aston Villa.”
Aston Villa need defensive reinforcements urgently
With the injury to Mings, albeit not long-term, and the recent departure of Diego Carlos, the Villans are light when it comes to options at centre half and it has to be a priority as the transfer deadline approaches.
Fortunately, it appears Unai Emery shares a similar sentiment with Axel Diasi linked with a switch to Villa Park [TBR] with targets clearly being worked on.
The Villans have had a mixed campaign, with several good results drowned out by several poor ones but if they are unable to sign a new defender before 3 February, more of the latter will shine through.

While Kamara is a good player, he simply isn’t a defender and the longer Emery is forced to persist with that, the lower their chances of achieving Champions League qualification is.
Villa are running out of time to achieve that though, and efforts must be ramped up with the deadline rapidly approaching.
