Aston Villa transfer blow as Sky Sports share new update

Joao Felix is unlikely to join Aston Villa during the winter transfer window, according to Kaveh Solhekol.

The Sky Sports reporter shared (2 February) that the Chelsea forward is set to either stay at Chelsea or make a move abroad before the deadline.

It was previously reported by TEAMtalk (29 January) that the West Midlands side were feeling increasingly confident of their chances of getting Felix with the player himself interested in the move.

As Unai Emery’s side continues to battle in the Champions League while also fighting for a European finish in the Premier League too, it’s no surprise that the boss has been after new faces during the winter transfer window.

Furthermore, after the departure of Jhon Duran to Al-Nassr before Ollie Watkins picked up an injury in his side’s defeat against Wolves on Saturday (1 February), the manager will certainly be keen for attacking reinforcements at Villa Park.

However, they will have to look elsewhere before the deadline on 3 February with Chelsea seemingly unwilling to sanction this exit during the current window, preferring to keep him at Stamford Bridge or send him abroad.

With Villa now competing at the top end of the Premier League, it may be harder for them to secure signings like this from their rivals but in itself, that is a sign of the development the club has had under Emery’s management.
