Donyell Malen's Aston Villa arrival is thought to have made an impact on his new teammates already.

Villa confirmed via the club's official website on Tuesday (14 January) that they had completed the signing of the Borussia Dortmund forward, with an update emerging on his availability for the Premier League clash with Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday (15 January) [via Matt Maher, 14 January].

It seems as though Unai Emery's side aren't finished in the winter transfer window just yet, as the club continue to pursue a deal for Sevilla defender Loïc Badé [via VamosMiSevilla, 14 January].

And ex-Villa scout Bryan King - speaking exclusively to Villa News - believes that any player arriving at the club this month will help to keep Emery's current stars on their toes.

"Signing Malen is a good bit of business for Villa," King said.

"If you get the chance to bring in a new player, it is always a boost for the club. It will also keep the players on their toes, they will be wondering whose position in the team is at risk.

"If you're going to bring players into the club, then make sure you're bringing in players who will challenge for a starting place in the team."

Donyell Malen to shake things up at Aston Villa?

Emery will be keen for Villa to push on in the second half of the season.

The West Midlands outfit haven't been as impressive as they were last year. However, they are still in a promising position in the Premier League and remain in the UEFA Champions League.

Adding players to the squad can only be a good thing, with Gabby Agbonlahor insisting one player is under pressure to perform after the arrival of Malen.

Therefore, with the Dutchman already through the door and a few more signings hopefully to arrive, Villa supporters will be optimistic about a big second half of the season.
