Aston Villa ready to sell striker in shock twist
Aston Villa are ready to sell Louie Barry in the January transfer window upon his return from Stockport, according to The Telegraph.
The newspaper reported via their website (1 January) that the Villans “intend to sell” the prolific striker to a Championship club over the next month or so.
The report also adds that Diego Carlos and Jaden Philogene are two other first-team players that Unai Emery could look to sell in January.
Aston Villa need to loan Louie Barry out rather than sell him permanently
It was clear that Barry had outgrown his surroundings with League One club Stockport as he was already the top scorer in the league after just half a season.
However, when it was announced that the Villans would recall the former Barcelona man, most fans and pundits alike likely expected the youngster to be sent out on loan for the second half of the season to a team in the Championship.
The former Barcelona man seems to have a bright future ahead of him and a step up in terms of quality could well do him some good.
However, if Villa sanction the permanent exit of the striker, it feels like they’d be making a rather large mistake and shooting themselves in the foot.

If he is to leave in January, it should be for no more than a six-month loan to a team in the second tier to see if he can handle himself just as well.
Only time will tell what the future holds for the 21-year-old but on paper, selling him seems like a silly idea.
