Aston Villa manager Unai Emery will be furious with the performance of Lucas Digne in the 2-1 loss to Nottingham Forest.

The defeat at the City Ground was marred by two controversial VAR incidents which both went the way of the hosts.

The Villans led through Jhon Duran's 63rd-minute strike until the 87th minute when Nikola Milenkovic equalised before Anthony Elanga completed the Forest comeback in the 93rd minute.

The defending for both of the goals that Villa conceded was horrendous and the 31-year-old did himself no favours with his display.

Digne to be dropped after Aston Villa horror show?

The Frenchman will be concerned about his place in the starting XI following his horror show against Forest.

Ian Maatsen replaced Digne in the 90th minute and could replace him on the team sheet for the next match.

The veteran could not cope with the pace of Elanga and was almost at fault for a goal due to the searing pace of the former Manchester United winger.

The former Everton man is usually a threat going forward but he was not on this occasion, he created zero chances, had just one touches in the opposition box and two passes into the final third. [Fotmob]

He was unsuccessful with all five crosses that he attempted and he was not much better defensively, making two clearances and two recoveries in a 90 minute appearance.

In terms of duels, he won just one of four contested ground duels for a 25 per cent success rate.

If Digne is dropped when Villa host Manchester City he can have complaints following a poor display on Saturday.
