Ross Barkley to fear Aston Villa future after latest £16m transfer development

Ross Barkley will be fearful of his Aston Villa future while a teen star continues to be monitored ahead of the January transfer window.

The Villans signed the ex-England international in the summer from Luton Town and he has gone on to be a regular substitute option for Unai Emery.

The 31-year-old has been utilised from the start just three times in all competitions this season with the likes of Youri Tielemans, Amadou Onana and Boubacar Kamara favoured.

Although this may not concern the central midfielder, he is likely to be fearful of his role at B6 if Villa make a midfield signing in January.

The Villans have had a largely positive campaign so far but after a run of eight games without a win from October to December, additional squad depth may be needed in the winter.

This could see Monchi move to bring Jobe Bellingham to Villa Park to add some midfield dynamism to Emery’s side.

The ex-Birmingham City starlet is said to be worth £16million to the Black Cats (BILD) who may be unlikely to sell in January unless a satisfactory offer is made.

At 19-year-old, the midfielder would represent a positive transfer in B6 but could end Barkley’s second Villa spell earlier than most would have expected.

There is no doubt that the ex-Chelsea man has shown plenty of positive moments but to swap a 31-year-old for a 19-year-old alternative could prove to be a positive step forward under Emery.

If Bellingham comes in during the January window, the current fringe Villa star could be keen to move on before his game time is limited even further.
