Aston Villa midfielder Amadou Onana is a major doubt for the Brentford clash due to a muscle injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that Unai Emery did not entirely tell the truth about the Belgian's fitness condition which led to confusion as to how long he was ruled out.

The 23-year-old hasn't featured for Villa since the international break and is a doubt for the Villa Park clash on 4 December.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientisttold Villa News: "It was said earlier that it was a muscle tear but Emery then said it wasn’t serious.

"I reckon it’s another situation where you shouldn’t be trusting what a manager says about player injuries, particularly true when it comes to foot injuries which can evolve quite quickly.

"I still think he’s a major doubt for the next one unless he’s been training exceptionally well."

Amadou Onana has been a key player for Aston Villa

Onana has made 10 league appearances for Villa this season and has been an unlikely goal scoring option too, chipping in with a couple of strikes.

He has also found the back of the net in the Champions League so is certainly capable of making a difference on the continental stage as well.

Hopefully, he's fit for the Brentford game and can at least feature for an hour if not the entire contest.
