Bryan King could see Arsenal spending £75million to sign Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran in January.

The ex-Villa scout has praised the club for agreeing a brand-new contract with the 20-year-old.

And King - speaking exclusively to Villa News - could see a deal happening if Duran's frustrations continue.

"I would think Arsenal would spend that money on Duran," King said.

"He's young, he can score goals, he's got a bit of a temperament and he wants to play football. If this situation continues, where he isn't starting, I could see something happening in January.

"That would explain why he signed a new contract. If Arsenal do come in for him in January, I'd imagine the wages he's on aren't small, which would explain why any fee would be around £75million.

"In some ways, Aston Villa have been quite cute with this, and anybody who wants to sign Duran will have to pay big money."

Arsenal to sign Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran in January?

Duran is Villa's top scorer this season. Therefore, it is understandable why he would feel as though he should be starting more frequently.

However, Unai Emery continues to stand by Ollie Watkins as his first-choice striker. As a result, transfer speculation is bound to swirl, despite Duran recently signing a new contract which is thought to include some very big financial perks.

From Villa's perspective, if they were to sell Duran for £75million in January, they would probably be quite happy. While he is scoring lots of goals, that would be a significant sum of money for such a young player.

However, if Emery doesn't want the Colombian to leave, he needs to start playing him more regularly.

Otherwise, it would be hard to see Duran turning down a big-money move where he is guaranteed first-team football.
