Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Barcelona are not chasing a deal for Jhon Duran Aston Villa rejected multiple bids over the summer.

The transfer specialist reported to his Daily Briefing on 27 September that the La Liga giants are not yet in active negotiations for the Colombia international.

Hansi Flick's side are "keeping a close eye on the strikers market" but haven't opened talks with the Villans.

This interest comes after West Ham made over five bids, one reaching up to £43million, for the striker over the summer but Villa "always said no".

Barcelona are interested in Aston Villa star Jhon Duran

There was plenty of interest in the 20-year-old over the duration of the summer window with a move away feeling very likely.

This even saw the striker show a West Ham Irons gesture on a live stream which did not go down well with Villa supporters, to say the least.

Duran's form to start the season has made fans forget about this because his impact on results has just been so huge in Unai Emery's side.

The former Chicago Fire man has scored four goals off the bench and one from a start this season with them all proving to be winners.

It has to be said that he struggled somewhat against Wycombe Wanderers with his impact off the bench being his key asset right now.

There is no way that the Villans will look to sell the young forward right now but the interest of Barcelona may be enough to potentially turn his head.
