Aston Villa urged to sell 'miserable' Diego Carlos amid £30million transfer news

Bryan King has urged Aston Villa to move Diego Carlos on from the club before the transfer window shuts on Friday (30 August).

The ex-Villa scout claims that Unai Emery doesn't need "miserable" faces around the changing room.

As reported by The Telegraph (28 August), Villa are keen to let Carlos go as they aim to complete the £30million signing of Lutsharel Geertruida.

And King - speaking exclusively to Villa News - feels that this is an important sale for the Villans.

"I can't see Villa getting anything more than £25million for Carlos," King said.

"However, it is important that the club just get rid of him. You don't need quality players around who are going to have miserable faces.

"Especially not at this time of the year, and especially not with the competitions that Villa are competing in. They will want 22 or 23 players in the first-team squad who want to play for the club and manager.

"The one thing you don't want at a football club is a miserable face. Therefore, if that means moving Carlos on, well that is football."

Carlos will no doubt be keen to play regular first-team football as he approaches the latter stages of his career. However, it doesn't look as though that will be a possibility under Emery.

Therefore, the club must move him on before Friday.

If Carlos isn't playing then he is unlikely to be a happy presence behind-the-scenes. As a result, that could disrupt the mood in the changing room during a season when Villa have big aspirations.

Time is running out, and a solution needs to be found.
