Ty Bracey has praised Aston Villa for lining up the signing of Ian Maatsen, who has moved a step closer to joining from Chelsea.

David Ornstein has reported (19 June) that the Villans have agreed a deal with Chelsea worth over £35million to sign the Dutchman.

Villa podcaster Bracey is excited about the move and believes it could spell the end for one of the current stars at the club.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: "I'd certainly take Maatsen at Villa. It doesn't look like it's going to be a swap deal now but I think he would be a 10 out of 10 signing.

"He had a great half-season at Dortmund, he made a mistake in the Champions League final but he's still a top-class player.

"It's already been reported that Lucas Digne or Alex Moreno will be going so if one of them goes out I would 100 per cent take Maatsen."

Ian Maatsen looks set for Aston Villa move

Jhon Duran has been linked with Chelsea over a potential £40m move [The Guardian] and Villa wanted Maatsen in a swap deal.

Now it appears that they are going to purchase the full-back outright in the hope that the Blues will buy the Colombian this summer.

It is safe to say that Villa are getting a good deal here even if they are losing a young forward with plenty of potential.

Maatsen spent the second half of the season on loan with Dortmund and played a key role as they made it to the Champions League final.

Aston Villa Unai Emery
Unai Emery is willing to give opportunities to young players

At just 22-years-old he has plenty of room to grow as he seeks to get more regular Premier League experience under his belt.

As a left-back in an Unai Emery system, he is going to be given a free role down the wing which has gotten the best out of Digne and Moreno recently.
