Bryan King believes Unai Emery could yet quit Aston Villa after Monchi was spotted in Barcelona.

The ex-Villa scout believes Aston Villa's President of Football Operations might have been sounding out a job with the La Liga giants for himself and Emery.

Mochi was spotted in attendance for Barcelona's 4-2 win over Valencia on Monday (29 April), with the reason for his visit not made clear (via Mundo Deportivo, 30 April).

And King - speaking exclusively to Villa News - believes there could have been several reasons for Mochi's trip to Spain.

"Monchi and Emery will know Spanish football as well as anybody," King said.

"If that is a market which is of interest to Villa, then it is important for them to keep on top of that and watch the top clubs in action.

"But at the same time, there is also a chance that Monchi was sounding out the possibility of a job for himself and Emery at Barcelona."

Unai Emery could struggle to turn down a move from Aston Villa to FC Barcelona

As long as Emery continues to do as well as he is doing at Villa Park, there will be interest in the manager from around Europe.

The Spaniard is building something special in the Premier League and he is unlikely to want to walk away from that.

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has been linked with FC Barcelona previously.

However, an opportunity to manage one of the world's biggest clubs could prove difficult to refuse, especially given Emery's previous success with La Liga sides.

Whatever the reason for Monchi's visit, it is hard to imagine that the possibility of Emery moving to Barcelona didn't come up, even if only as a light-hearted suggestion over dinner.
