Aston Villa Women star Alisha Lehmann has received a message from Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz.

It comes after the former scored with the outside of her boot for Switzerland Women against Poland Women.

The forward netted her nation’s final goal in their 4-1 international friendly victory on Friday (23 February).

Lehmann shared a video of the goal on Instagram, with Premier League ace Luiz commenting on the post: “What trivela my love hahaha I love you.”

Lehmann has had to be patient for opportunities at club level this season, and that also was the case for her national team.

But the forward made an impact from the bench against Poland Women, scoring a well-taken goal in the friendly clash.

It may just be enough for the attacker to land a starting spot when the two nations go head-to-head in another friendly on Tuesday (27 February).

Carla Ward’s side are certainly well-represented at international level, with the manager just hoping that her players can return without any injury issues.

A busy period is approaching for the Midlands club, with the side returning to action with a home clash against Liverpool Women next Sunday (3 March).

That is immediately followed by a huge FA WSL Cup semi-final meeting with Arsenal Women just three days later.

Ward will be delighted with Lehmann’s strike for Switzerland Women, with that goal also certain to improve her chances of more game time in the Midlands.
