Injury Expert issues Diego Carlos update ahead of Aston Villa v Tottenham Hotspur

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Aston Villa...

Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos’s response to rehabilitation has been inconsistent amid his muscle injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that he could miss the game against Tottenham Hotspur on 26 November and that the Villa medics will play the situation by ear.

Ahead of the Fulham game over the weekend, Emery revealed that he’s out with an injury but did not get into explaining how serious it was.

Speaking about his injury, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:

Sounds like it’s a muscular injury but his response has been inconsistent to rehab so it will be a play it by ear situation.

There remains a chance of him missing the game as the club have not yet revealed how serious it is.

All Emery is saying is that it might be a minor injury.

Carlos has been a backup centre-back for Villa this season – making more appearances off the bench than starts in the league.

In the UEFA Conference League, Emery has opted to start him whenever he’s been fit but it’s been a different ball game domestically.

The 30-year-old also managed to find the back of the net in the Conference League and that surely will have given him the confidence to be a threat from set pieces.

In other Aston Villa news, a rising star has given Unai Emery some food for thought and his Aston Villa debut will surely be on the horizon in the coming weeks.
