Ty Bracey: Emiliano Buendia problem on cards at Aston Villa after 'massive' loss
We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…
Emiliano Buendia could provide Unai Emery with a good problem to have once he returns from injury after he has been a “massive loss” for Aston Villa, according to Ty Bracey.
The Argentinian international was ruled out for up to eight months with a knee ligament injury after an incident in training at the start of August.
That means the 26-year-old attacking midfielder is likely to miss most of the season, but he’ll be looking to challenge summer loan signing Nicolo Zaniolo for a place in the side once he returns to action.
Bracey believes depth is “never a bad thing” and that Unai Emery will have some strong attacking options at his disposal once Buendia and the other injured players are available again.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “He looked bang up for it and very good in pre-season. It was a massive loss to us, but when he comes back, it’ll be nice to have those options available.
“We’re missing him and Jacob Ramsey, who are two very important players who could really do with being back. Tyrone Mings, you could also include in that, but Pau Torres has been good and a like-for-like replacement for Mings, so I can’t fault him.
“But depth is never a bad thing, it’s a good problem to have too many options to choose from for a manager in terms of who they select, instead of looking at a starting lineup and seeing the same players every week.
“It’s nice to have that issue and it’ll be good to have Buendia back firing after his injury.”
In other Aston Villa news, a broadcaster believes the club have made a “statement of intent” after a Unai Emery development has emerged.
