Aston Villa find perfect Ollie Watkins 2.0 as Fabrizio Romano shares contract news

Aston Villa are ready to open talks with Rory Wilson over a new contract with the perfect Ollie Watkins replacement already at the club.

Fabrizio Romano reported on 5 November that the Villans already want to extend his stay beyond 2025 with a new five-year contract at Villa Park.

It is reported that many clubs already have the young Scottish hitman on their radar after his scintillating start to life at the club after joining from Rangers.

He wrote: “Aston Villa are prepared to discuss new five-year contract for 2006 born striker Rory Wilson.”

Watkins 2.0

This would be a sensational move by the club to tie down its brightest prospect, with one eye likely already on the striker from Unai Emery at the very top.

The Spaniard has transformed Watkins since arriving, with his seat at the table confirmed as the number two striker for England behind Harry Kane.

Five goals and five assists in 10 Premier League games this season has seen Watkins catapult Villa up the table and in similar circumstances, he has also recently signed a new long-term contract.

Wilson was averaging 1.19 goals and assists per game last season in the Premier League 2, keeping up speed with Watkins with his power, finishing and ability to set up teammates with ease [FBref].

Should the club manage to tie Wilson down until 2028 at least, it won’t be long until Emery gets his hands on the talent and pushes him towards that Premier League side.

He can be just that good – watch out, Watkins.
