Chris Heck can prove worth with Aston Villa redevelopment - Finance Expert
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist, he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Aston Villa.
Dan Plumley has admitted that Chris Heck can continue to prove himself after £100million plans were green-lighted for the redevelopment of Villa Park and surrounding areas.
Birmingham Live has already described the works for a new fan zone in place of the current academy building as the “brainchild” of the Villa chief.
The finance expert admitted that his background in American sports and stadiums will be at play, with everyone hopefully pushing in the same direction to maximise the potential gains.
“We made the comment when he was appointed,” he exclusively told Villa News.
“Look at his background, look at the way American sports operate, look at the entertainment proposition of sports fixtures in America and he has a lot of track record of delivering commercial success in and out of stadia in America.
“That will be at play here as well, and we know that can have financial benefits for the club.
“It’s no surprise to see that, but again, it’s important that it is joined up with the direction of travel of everyone at the club to maximise the gains.”
Heck has already been busy with changes at Villa Park since arriving at the club, overseeing the new corporate offerings which opened against Brighton.
The full works at Villa Park are expected to start next summer, with the goal to be completed before the 2026/27 campaign gets underway in a new dawn for the club.
