Leicester City Women ace Sophie Howard sends Aston Villa Women star Rachel Corsie message after Scotland record
Leicester City Women ace Sophie Howard has sent a two-word message to Aston Villa Women star Rachel Corsie.
It comes after the latter made her 142nd cap for the Scotland national team, moving her into the country’s top five most-capped players of all-time.
Both players scored in Scotland’s 1-1 Nations League group stage draw with Belgium on Tuesday (26 September), with Howard netting a 93rd-minute equaliser.
Sharing Corsie’s feat on social media, the Scotland National Team posted on Instagram: “Starting this evening, Rachel Corsie wins her 142nd Scotland cap, and moves into the top five most-capped Scotland players of all-time.”
Commenting on the post was Leicester ace and Corsie’s Scotland teammate Howard, who wrote: “Unreal skip.”
Superb achievement
It is a phenomenal achievement from Corsie to hit that target, and it will have been a very proud moment for her and her family.
Making it particularly special is the fact that it came at Hampden Park, with her adoring home fans watching on at the national stadium.
The Aston Villa Women defender may just be eyeing 150 appearances for her national team, a fantastic figure that is now well within her reach.
Also making the achievement special was a dramatic goal from her central defensive partner Howard, who equalised for Scotland with the very last kick of the game to earn an important point for her country.
Scotland currently sit bottom of Nations League A Group 1 after their two matches, but their point against Belgium means they are still in with a chance of a strong finish in the group. Belgium sit top of the standings on four points, followed by England and the Netherlands, who both have three.
In other Aston Villa news, the club must tie down one ace after his 100% display against Chelsea as a new contract update emerges.
