Leon Bailey sends five-word message to Moussa Diaby as he seals Aston Villa transfer
Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey has sent a five-word message on Instagram to new signing Moussa Diaby.
The French forward joined Villa on 22 July for a reported club-record £51.9million fee from Bayer Leverkusen after seeing off interest from Saudi Arabia to make him their fourth signing of the summer.
The 24-year-old posted a picture of himself signing his deal at Villa Park and said he was “Very proud to start a new chapter and join Aston Villa”, with Bailey – who he also played with at Leverkusen – responding by saying “Yes finally, welcome by brother”.
Exciting times
This is understandably very exciting times for Villa fans after seeing their club largely underachieve for a number of years.
They have turned a major corner since Unai Emery arrived at Villa Park in October last year, having won 15 of their 25 Premier League games under the Spanish boss to secure a place in next season’s Europa Conference League.
The signings of Youri Tielemans, Pau Torres and Diaby this summer have shown how far the club have come forward during that time and that top players are now keen to join a team that’s very much on the up.
Villa fans will love to see the exchange between Bailey and Diaby as it shows that the current players are wanting to see the squad strengthen further, even if it means players are arriving in their positions.
The duo spent two years playing at Leverkusen together, so they will be looking forward to reuniting at Villa Park and all those associated with the club will be relishing the opportunity to see them play together.
In other Aston Villa news, the club are still looking to sign another winger they’ve been tracking this summer.
